Summer School of Montenegrin Language and Culture

The Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature is organising the Montenegrin Language and Culture Summer School, which will take place in the period from 16 to 28 July 2023. The Summer School is intended for people over the age of 18 who want to master the Montenegrin language, regardless of their previous knowledge level and education profile. The Summer School includes thirty (45-minute) classes of Montenegrin language and fifteen classes of Montenegrin culture and history.

As part of the Summer School, field classes will be organised as well: we will visit parts of the Montenegrin coast, Mount Lovćen, Skadar Lake and a number of significant sights in Cetinje, the Old Royal Capital of Montenegro, and its surroundings.

The classes will be held in the premises of the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature in Cetinje (134 Bajova Street), four days a week from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (with a 30-minute break), while one day a week is envisaged for a field trip to selected Montenegrin sights, which will also be of an educational nature.

The attendees will have a free weekend.

Upon arrival at the Summer School, the attendees who state in their application that they know the Montenegrin language will take a test, based on which they will be assigned to one of the three levels offered: beginner, intermediate and advanced. The classes will be held by professors from the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature who are licensed to work with adults and have experience in teaching Montenegrin as a foreign language. Classes will be held in Montenegrin and English.

Montenegrin language and culture classes, textbooks and three field trips are free of charge for all attendees. However, the attendees have to organise and provide for their travel arrangements and accommodation on their own.

The maximum number of attendees is 12 per group.

Upon completion of the Summer School, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
